This morning my parents suddenly woke me up and told me they're bringing me to Assunta Hospital. I was pretty surprised, but got ready to go anyway. What else could I do?
Reached there, first had to fill in a form with all my details. Then waited to see a general practitioner. Before entering her room, a nurse took my blood pressure, pulse etc. She looked at me, and asked why I was there. I told her I dislocated my shoulder, and she asked, "Tak dapat letak balik ke?(Couldn't push it back?) I said, "Boleh, tapi nak check."(Can, but I came to check that it's alright) She and I laughed a bit. After that I entered the doctor's room. She looked at my shoulder, asked me some questions. She asked if I put it back myself, so I said yes. "Wow, you're a clever girl!" was her comment. LOL!
After that she recommended me to see an orthopaedic specialist. So waited again to see him. When I entered his room, he was reading the report by the previous doctor. When I walked in, his first line was, "You've got an interesting problem here. Dislocating and relocating your shoulder??" Is it really that surprising...
After that he checked my shoulder again, and asked me to go for a few x-rays. Went to another place and waited yet again. When it my turn to enter the room, the equipments were fascinating! A huge machine hanging from the machine, the nurse could push it around. She told me how to stand etc etc then took a few x-rays of my shoulder. Then we went back to wait for the orthopaedic's comments.
When our turn came, he showed us the results of the x-ray(my bones are quite small! lol). He said all was fine, but the x-ray can't show the condition of my ligaments. He said he'll do a scan if it still gives me problems the next time.
He said normally he would give his patients a sling but he won't give me one as it would restrict my movements. Lol! Maybe somehow he knew I'd be feeling very very helpless with my hand in a sling. Or perhaps he knew it'd take a miracle for me to keep my hand in a sling. I think the latter is more correct. Lol. Thank God that he didn't give me a sling =)
All the nurses and doctors that saw me today were clearly puzzled. Maybe they've never seen a patient that dislocated and relocated her shoulder and yet still wants to play the sport that caused it? Maybe they've never seen such a young patient that dislocated and relocated her shoulder herself?
The other patients in the hospitals were pretty puzzled to see me too. Some looked at me from head to toe, trying to figure out why I was waiting for the orthopaedic specialist with them but I didn't have any part of my body in a cast(all of them had a cast on some part of their body). Or maybe they were puzzled with my constant chatter and laughter? Most people there were pretty somber.
The bill cost RM129. Okay ler, especially since I took 3 x-rays. I wanted to keep my x-rays, but they didn't offer and I didn't ask. But I want it back when I go again next month! =P Next appointment is 2nd of April. Hopefully it's okay by then. He told me not to play badminton for a month. But he also said that I can practice strokes that doesn't involve my arm going higher than my shoulder.
My 1st time in the hospital as a patient was an enlightening experience. I've been to hospitals plenty, but never as a patient. Normally I'm just there to visit others. I learnt plenty..
Being a doctor can be great job actually. You really get to help people who are physically injured, give hope.. but I still prefer doctors that mend people who are emotionally 'injured'. =)
After that went for youth. As I can't take part in the play(PBSM camp), I helped them to turn on the music after certain scenes. Also helped to make the name tags.. though June wrote the names on them as my handwriting isn't exactly fantastic. lol!
Their bloopers during the play were amusing... but it's got to go smoothly on the real day. Hopefully it's perfect(or near to perfect) by the real day...
God bless
