Kalo nak berpolitik dlm Malaysia..

Lebih baik kalo BM kita powderful.

I just watched some videos of Malaysia's parliment at its bes.. er, worst. And it was pretty obvious that the MPs who struggled with BM had a clear disadvantage as compared to fluent Malay-speaking MPs. Of course, if the debates had been conducted in English instead, I daresay the tables would be turned around. But, bear in mind that Malay is our official language, so.. when in Rome, do as Romans do.

In other words, MPs ought to try to improve their BM to a point that they stop fumbling for words, I believe you are playing at a very very unlevel field(more than it already is) if you're struggling to get words out against some machine-gunned-mouth MP.

Of course, one wonders how Malaysia is ever gonna advance when our MPs are heatedly arguing over semantics instead of real issues. Hmm.

This Youtube Video can explain what I mean. (It's 2 years old though, can't say much has improved since then.)

Mmm.. "BODOH (STUPID)! BODOH!"

After the Yang di-Pertua says that he "tidak menggalakkan perkataan 'bodoh' digunakan (discouraged the use of the word 'stupid')", Nazri changes to, "Tidak cerdik (Not intelligent). Tidak cerdik. Tidak cerdik. Tidak cerdik! Ah, macam bodoh lah, tidak cerdik (Like stupid lah, the word not intelligent)!"

I'm positive that had Nazri been arguing against a fluent-Malay-speaking MP, he would not have changed 'bodoh' to 'tidak cerdik'. Simply because the fun is taken out of semantics when your opponent clearly understands your meaning. To have explained 'tidak cerdik' is demeaning on the other MP's part as it clearly shows how lowly he thinks of that MP's fluency in BM. Whether he really had to explain the word 'tidak cerdik' or not is another issue, but the fact that he even THINKS he has to explain it reflects his impression of that MP's BM.

Was just feeling random. :-)

God bless!
