Yes, I'm in Kedah now. Sitting on my bed in the.. er, hostel that's a house but a really pathetic house honestly(LOL) with the laptop.
The house is.. well, odd. They built it for students, so I guess that means students don't need a nice comfortable place to live in. The floor is cement and we wear slippers everywhere around the house(except our rooms). When I first came to my room there was only one bed, and it was a senior's one. Haha. The bed came later though. Still, despite my derelict(yay I finally get to use this word on myself!) surrounding, I thank God that my condition is not as bad as some of the newcomers. At least I just moved in with a senior, and she's a pretty neat person. I pity her though, I shall try to be neat. =P
When I first met my coursemates.. first thought was.. OMG! I'm taking TESL, but EVERYONE around me speaks either Malay or Chinese or Tamil!!!
What my teacher told me about my type(English speaking) going extinct she was awfully right. Seriously.
I mean, you can throw me in a swamp, a snake-pit, whatever. But in a group of people who are taking an English course but most of whom can hardly speak English?? Or maybe they can all speak wonderful fantastic English but choose to keep that fact hidden.
However, yes I am coping fine. Try as I might, things boiled down to race in the end. Maybe when classes start things will change.. but for now.. I wouldn't want to blog about it, ask me the details if you want to.
Thank God for wonderful seniors though. Some of them have been really great. Hehe.
Okay, that's all for now.. still have loads to unpack. Have a great day!
God bless,
Jo
