Yes, I had 3 birthday cakes. Lol.
On the 10th Jan, a few youth fellows came over and really surprised me. When I went downstairs they started singing 'Happy Birthday' and there were candles on the cake. Was really surprised man.. I was not expecting it AT ALL. Good thing I was dressed pretty decently.. won't want them seeing me in some pyjamas looking clothes. =P
On the 11th Jan, I skipped training cause my shoulder was kind of injured. But I was called up and told to go to the hall at 6pm for a 'surprise'. So I went.. I expected a present or something like that.. instead I got a cake! Again, I was quite surprised. Because as far as I thought, birthday cakes were only reserved for coaches, and I am but a trainee there. Still, it was a pleasant surprise. =)
On the 12th Jan.. finally, my 15th birthday.. guess what?
I didn't get any cake. Just hugs and wishes and songs from school friends. Hahaha. I'm pretty touched that they actually remembered my birthday.. cause I don't. *embarrassed* I will make it a point to remember my friends' birthdays from now on.
On the 13th Jan.. I got another cake! With an elephant on it.. the trunk holding a racquet and attempting to hit a shuttlecock. Lol! Nice cake though. This time from school friends. Was quite embarrassing though.. they had it in the school canteen after school.. they started singing and about 3/4 of the people in the canteen joined in. Sounded like 3/4 of them anyway, was very loud. Saw many of my friends, not close friends, but nonetheless still my friends singing. My friends couldn't light the candles though, they didn't know how to use the poker. HAhaha! I showed a couple how to after that. =P
So yeah, I had cakes from the people of 3 different parts of my life.. youth group, badminton group, and school friends. A book from Janice, a pair of earrings from Su Faye, a card from Natalie, and a t-shirt from CP. All came on different days. Lol.
There must be SOMETHING special about my 15th birthday. Who ever heard of THREE birthday cakes for ONE birthday person?? Maybe for someone else.. someone special, or popular.. but definitely not someone like me.
Oh. Not to mention that I kinda of injured my shoulder the day before my birthday. Yep. That was my present for myself I guess. =(
But yeah, I'm really thankful for such caring friends.. though I'm not one myself. Perhaps this was supposed to tell me to buck up and start caring for them. As far as I know, I hardly view birthdays as an important event. Maybe it's time I change that notion.
I know what I really want for my birthday though. Hehe. Think I'll have to buy that for myself when I'm living on my own(seeing noone else will get it for me). =D Looking forward to that day!
Thank You God,
Joanne
